Look for the Lunar Eclipse on Sun 20 Jan 2019 There will be a total lunar eclipse over Columbia on Sunday night, January 20, 2019. The penubral eclipse will begin as early as 8:36pmCT, with the first visible evidence of the start of the eclipse, and the moon will start getting red at around 9:33pmCT. For observers in Adair County, the "blood moon" should appear completely red by 10:41pmCT, and remain covered until 11:43pmCT (Click here to search for times for other locations). The National Weather Service is predicting partly cloudy skies, so there is at least some chance of observation tomorrow if the weather cooperates. It will be bitterly cold, with temps in the teens and wind chill even lower, so bundle up if you plan to venture out and watch the skies. Wikipedia has more on lunar eclipses.
