Jeeps were popular when our Dad bought this one By Ralph Roy Waggener My niece Mitzi Bault brought me an old photo that stirred memories from when my older brother Arthur Lee Waggener drove dad's, E.P. Waggener's, Willis Jeep that he bought in Glasgow, KY (at least I think that was where it came from). The top on this Jeep came from an old car, most likely from the Feese Brother's Junk Yard. E.P. had a lot of ideas, one being improving the tobacco spear and making it a clamper type that made it easier to put on a tobacco stick! Dad made a lot of things - some good, some not so good. I'd most likely put this Jeep top as both, worked good, but for looks, well the photo tells the story. I believe the photo was made on Hwy. 206 just off of Hwy 55, with the big Aubrey sign in the background. I could be wrong, I'm not positive! A lot of young men had Jeeps around this time. Charles Sandusky had one, as did several others. The word I heard growing up was that Arthur made a sound like a siren with his mouth and was pulled over by local police officers, who spent quite a bit of time trying to find the siren but of course not find it! - RRW This story was posted on 2019-01-12 05:28:06
