Elmer Ray Dykes, 71, Jamestown, KY (1947-2018)

Elmer Ray Dykes, 71, of Jamestown, KY, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home.

The family has requested a private visitation and a private funeral service. Bro. Roger Garner and Bro. Barry Bradshaw will officiate, with interment in the Jamestown Cemetery to follow.


Elmer Dykes was born September 22, 1947 in Russell County to the late Arvis Elmer & Nannie Rae Garner Dykes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Joe Dykes and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman & Elizabeth Guffey.

Survivors include:
  • His wife, Helen Dykes, Jamestown
  • Three children, Rhonda Stapp of Clearwater, Florida, Timothy Ray Dykes of Jamestown, KY, and Heather (Matthew) McQueary of Lexington, KY
  • Four grandchildren, Lindsay (Matthew) Decker, Christian (Pearl) Dykes, Bethany Stapp, and Caleb McQueary
  • Two brothers, Billy Dykes of Jamestown, KY and Norman Dean Dykes of Macon, GA
  • A sister, Norma Jean Rowe of Columbia, KY
