Sara Roush, 98, matriarch of Adair County, KY family

Adair County High School retired art teacher Henrietta Scott's mother, Sara Rousch, is known locally to many who have admired her art over the years at showings in the Lindsey Wilson College Lucretia Begley Art Gallery and at Jeff and Henrietta Scott's art studio in Sparksville, KY.

Sara Metta Roush, 98, of Louisville, KY passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018.

Cremation was chosen in honor of her wishes. There will be a family celebration of her life at her birthplace in Ohio where her ashes will be interred in the family cemetery.



She was born on June 14, 1920 in Amesville, Ohio to the late Henrietta and Selby Glazier. She is preceded in death by her son, Selby Roush and son-in-law, Jeffrey Scott. Sara was raised with her two sisters, Dorothy and Virginia on a farm near Amesville, Ohio.

Sara cared for her daughter, Henrietta and son, Selby. Sara worked as a commercial artist for over 35 years and also enjoyed watercolor painting with other artists.

Sara is survived by
  • Her daughter, Henrietta Scott
  • Three granddaughters - Sara Marie Browning (Fred), Mary Beth Mowery (Mike) and Kim Miller
  • Four great-grandchildren - Hayden Browning, Addisyn Hatcher-Mowery, A.J. Mowery and Asher Mowery
  • Nieces, Jane Eddy, Sally Carpenter and Ginny Killian
  • Nephew, Stanley Cole
  • Two special friends, Alice Bratcher and Mary Lou Feese

Sara Roush, seated in the center, has passed away at age 98 after a long life with many artistic contributions. The matriarch of Henrietta Scott's Adair County, KY family, she will be remembered locally to many who have admired her art at showings in the Lindsey Wilson College Lucretia Begley Art Gallery and at Jeff and Henrietta Scott's art studio in Sparksville, KY.
