Norma Jean Spear, 78, Louisville, KY (1940-2018)

Norma Jean retired from Baptist Hospital East after 33 years. She loved the Lord, her family, including her cat, Sassy, her job, and bingo.

Norma Jean Spear, age 78, entered into eternal rest on December 14, 2018, at Green Meadows Nursing Home, surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation is requested on Monday, December 17, from 1pmET until 7pmET at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.

A graveside service will be held at 1pmCT on Tuesday, December 18, at Scott Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.


Formerly of Peytonsburg Community in Cumberland County, Kentucky, she married her high school sweetheart and moved to Louisville. Norma Jean retired from Baptist Hospital East after 33 years. She loved the Lord, her family, including her cat, Sassy, her job, and bingo.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Mearl Spear; son, Stephen; granddaughter, Kelci; three brothers; and long-time friend, Irvin.

She is survived by her son, Doug (Denise); daughter, Tracy (Willis); granddaughters, Alyvia, Meagan, Michelle; and grandsons, Stephen and Chris.

A special thanks to her best friend, Barbara Richardson; long-time friend, Brenda Key Rhine; and the staff at Green Meadows Nursing Home.
