Giles House Will Be Open Weekends, July 12 -september 13 This article first appeared in issue 14, and was written by Staff. The Giles Foundation plans several activities at the Giles House on Spout Springs Road for the 1997 summer season. The Giles House will be open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2-5 (Central) from July 12 through September 13. There will be someone at the house to tell individuals and groups about the Gileses' legacy-both the legacy of the house and of the literature. Volunteers are needed to serve as house guides for the summer. There wil be an information training session for house guides on June 7 from 10-12 a.m. (Central). If you are interested in volunteering to be a guide for the Giles House, call Evelyn McCloud at 502-384-4137. Not only will Giles House be open on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from mid-July through mid-September, but also there will be various activities during the summer and early fall months. On September 13, from 5-7 p.m. (Central), the public is invited to bring a picnic lunch and listen to Jim and Nevalyn Moore's program of folk music. Jim plays the penny whistle and guitar. Nevalyn plays the hammer dulcimer. There will be no admission, but donations to the Giles Foundation will be accepted. Other events will be announced throughout the summer.
