LWC Men's Basketball beats Carver 82-54 By Christopher Coombs The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Carver (GA) 82-54 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Lindsey Wilson Classic at Biggers Sports Center. Lindsey Wilson will be back in action on Saturday, December 15, 2018, when they take on Indiana Southeast at 5:30pmCT at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders were led by Fredens Deneus who produced his fifth double-double of the season as he scored 18 points and 12 rebounds. His 18 points were a career-high. Four other Blue Raiders finished the game scoring double-digit points as Payton Cundiff added 17 point and a career-high six steals while Shakaris Laney, Pierre Lys and JR Adams all managed 11 points. Cundiff, Lys and Adams also added seven boards each. Lindsey Wilson managed to make 14-of-34 attempts in each half as they shot 41.2 percent from the floor. The LWC defense limited the Carver to making 19-of-60 attempts from the floor as they connected on just 4-of-24 three point attempts. The Blue Raiders would break a 9-9 tie with 15:45 left in the first half and never look back as they were able to build a 38-25 lead at the break and would extend their lead to as many 35 in the second half. Lindsey Wilson was able to control the paint as they outscored Carver 38-26 from the high percentage area. LWC would also attack the glass, out rebounded the Cougars 51-36, including 22-14 for offensive rebounds. LWC picked up the win despite playing without their leading scorer Kel Stotts, averaging 17.8 points a game, who was sidelined due to an illness.
