Joann Walker Gives Permission To Paint Mural On Building

This article first appeared in issue 12, and was written by Staff.

Murals chairpersons Margaret Arnold and Donna Vaughn reported that JoAnn Jones Walker, owner of the Dr. Max Downey office building, has sent written permission allowing Heart of Adair to paint the community's first mural on her building.

Reached at her home in Louisville, Mrs. Walker said that she was thrilled that Heart of Adair is doing the mural. "And," she said, "if the City will go ahead and build the steps and walkway to the Square," I'll beautify the area on my property around the steps with plantings and rocks."

Heart of Adair decided at its February meeting do a reproduction of the Square, possibly in a 40s, 50s or 60s motif. "We're going to prep the wall," HoA Chairman Dr. Ben Arnold said. "We want the mural to have lasting beauty."

Legendary Columbia artist Joe Moore to do mural outline

Heart of Adair Chairman Dr. Ben Arnold announced Columbia artist Joe Moore, the artist who drew the most famous logo-the courthouse clock tower-has consented to draw the outline for the mural once the wall is reworked to make a suitable base for the drawing.
