LWC swimming finishes 2nd/3rd at Brenau Invitational

Gainesville, GA - The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team finished second at the Brenau Invitational Saturday in Gainesville, Georgia, while the Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team posted a third-place finish.

The Lindsey Wilson swimming teams will be back in action on Saturday, January 12 against Transylvania Univeristy at Holloway Center Natatorium at Holloway Center Natatorium in Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 399 Williams St., Columbia, KY.


The no. 5-ranked Lady Blue Raiders finished with 735 points, just falling behind No. 1-ranked SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) by just 28 points.

The women's swimming team achieved 10 first place finishes and sweeped all of the relay events in the invitational. LWC achieved 22 A-cut standards and four B-cut standards

In the Relay events, the relay of Emma Fenwick, Bailey Seitz, Carlene Taylor, and Jessica Macdonald took three first-place finishes in the 200-yard free (1:40.21), 400 free (3:39.21) and 800 free (8:00.26). The relay of Sarah Hahn, Sloane Smith, Macdonald and Taylor achieved two first place finishes in the 200 medley (1:50.94) and 400 medley (4:05.68).

Macdonald led the women with three individual first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (52.27), 200 freestyle (1:55.89) and 200 individual medley (2:10.85).

Wood achieved her first A-cut in the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 18:54.02. Sarah Hahn notched her first individual A-cut this season in the 200 backstroke in 2:14.34.

Emma Fenwick achieved three individual A-Cut standards in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.32), 200 individual medley (2:11.48) and 400 individual medley in 4:49.36.

SCAD-Savannah took the top spot with 763 points, followed by LWC with 735. In third Milligan (Tenn.) finished with 549.50 points, Breanu (Ga.) in fourth with 535.50 points. Columbia (S.C.) finished in fifth with 349 points, while Thomas (Ga.) and LaGrange (Ga.) finishes sixth and seventh place.

Men finish 3rd
The no.7-ranked LWC men's swimming finished with 665 points, just behind Milligan (Tenn.) and SCAD-Savannah (Ga.).

The men's swimming team achieved nine first place finishes, along with 23 A-Cut standards and five B-Cut standards.

The Relays for the Blue Raiders achieved four second-place and one first-place finish. The team of Pedro Terra, Bryce Rice, Clemens Paetzold and Aleksander Ojenik achieved three A-cuts and three second place finishes in 200 free (1:26.83), 200 medley (1:34.97) and 400 Medley in 3:30.12. The team of Terra, Ron Wolfart, Paetzold, and Ojenik achieved two A-cuts, one first- place and a second-place finish in 400 Free (3:09.42) and in 800 Free (7:06.54).

Paetzold led the men's team with three individual A-cuts in 100 backstroke (51.33), 200 backstroke (1:53.21) and 200 individual medley in 1:55.83. Terra notched himself two individual A-cuts and first-place finishes in 500 freestyle (4:46.94) and 1,650 freestyle in 16:22.87.

Rice achieved his first A-cut this season in the 100 breaststroke in 59.24. Wolfart achieved three individual A-cuts in the 100 breaststroke (59.57), 200 breaststroke (2:09.79) and 400 individual medley in 4:14.80.

Michael Peck and Manuel Griego chipped in with their efforts by both achieving two individual A-cuts. Peck gained his A-cuts in 500 freestyle (4:50.36) and 1,650 freestyle in 17:01.36. Griego notched his in 500 freestyle (4:46.94) and 400 individual medley in 4:19.37.

At the Brenau Invitational, SCAD-Savanah finishes in first with 921 points, followed by Milligan with 681 and LWC with 665. Thomas (Ga.) and Lagrange (Ga.) finished in fourth and fifth.
