J.O.Y. Ministries asks for your gifts this holiday season

The J.O.Y. Ministries Crisis Resource Center is currently working to provide Christmas gifts to struggling families and to build an emergency shelter in partnership with local government to house those who need immediate shelter after a crisis. All these efforts require funds, so we want to make this our biggest fund-raising campaign ever!

By Maggie Coleman

Thank you very much for the support that you have shown to J.O.Y. Ministries in the past. Many in our community and beyond have donated generously to support our local Missions Week and international mission trips, the Paz-Holley Project, or the general fund that runs the Crisis Resource Center. It is time for J.O.Y. to undertake our annual fundraiser. We have chosen the theme "Experience J.O.Y. this Christmas" and set a goal to raise $15,000.

In the coming year, J.O.Y. plans as ambitious an agenda as ever. We are seeking to grow our outreach and opportunities for youth to serve and to receive God's love and care. We are continuing our plans to offer Mission Week and our annual trip to Puerto Rico, but also will be taking youth to help those in the Southeast affected by the hurricanes (We have had two groups go already and are working to fill a truck!).

We plan to expand our summer camp program for at-risk youth, and we plan to launch an after-school program to provide children in the community with food, academic support, life skills, and Bible-study. The Crisis Resource Center is currently working to provide Christmas gifts to struggling families and to build an emergency shelter in partnership with local government to house those who need immediate shelter after a crisis. All these efforts require funds, so we want to make this our biggest fund-raising campaign ever!

If you would like to give a tax-deductible gift to support these efforts, please mail your check to J.O.Y. Ministries, P.O. Box 114, Columbia, KY 42728 or drop a donation by the Crisis Resource Center at 411 Greensburg Street Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Have a blessed holiday season from all the volunteers at J.O.Y. Ministries!
