Bypass Town Meeting Clarifies Two Distinct Choices On Routes: 1) Try For 2nd I

This article first appeared in issue 12, and was written by Linda Waggener. The full title appeared as: Bypass town meeting clarifies two distinct choices on routes: 1) Try for 2nd interchange, or, 2) Don't risk it.

Heart of Adair's March 6 meeting to examine the proposed bypass routes was an unqualified success, Dr. Ben Arnold, Heart of Adair President says.

Two very strong camps have emerged.

1) Prefer and fight for 1B with an interchange on Hwy 61, but take 1A it is all we can get.

2) The Jim Blair group: Take 1A, forget a second interchange or get nothing.

Dr. Arnold says that he will actively promote reconsideration of the second bypass until it either a reality or the fight is lost.

"Columbia clearly needs a strong economy.
