The annual Deer Hunters breakfast held today, November 10, 2018 by Hood Lodge, Oak Grove, Adair County, KY was a great success.

On behalf of all the members of Hood Lodge 839 we would like to say thank you for your continued support of our ACMS chrome book project.

Thanks to your generous support we’ll be able to continue to help local children in continuing their education for tomorrow.

Deer Hunters annual fundraiser breakfast

Inside Hood Lodge this morning it was warm and filled with aromas of sausage, country ham, eggs, gravy, coffee and biscuits. According to the Lodge members and leaders, today's annual Deer Hunters breakfast enjoyed a good crowd from Adair and surrounding counties and several from out of state.

Hood Lodge 839 was the location of the annual Deer Hunter's Breakfast fundraiser last Saturday. A good crowd attended, starting at 6amCT and going on until nearly noon. Condy Young has been a member of Hood Lodge for 53-54 years.

Helping with the Hood Lodge annual Deer Hunter's Breakfast were, from left, Bailey Reynolds, Debbie Reynolds, Kevin Reynolds, and Jordan Baker. Kevin cooked the popular country ham. His guarded secret recipe includes pouring half a liter of Coke and a cup of water into a crock pot over the country ham. Cook it all night long and it's falling-apart-ready to spoon over hot biscuits by six in the morning - that's when the early hunters were ready to come in and eat.

Drawing for prizes at Hood Lodge annual breakfast

Young Will Reynolds drew winning names for Jordan Baker, Master. Young people in attendance also drawing names out of the bucket for prizes were Jayelyn Davis, Nathan Cape and Tye Mitchum. Prizes given away included a new hunting rifle and other hunting prizes at 11amCT as the event came to a close. All proceeds are applied to the ACMS Chrome Book Project and upkeep of the Lodge. Lloyd Alley has been a Hood Lodge member for 55 years

Lloyd Alley has belonged to Hood Lodge 839 for 55 years. The Lodge and church started together, then in 1949 the Lodge building was built on its own. The Lodge, located on Oak Grove Road, used to be on Garlin mail route but now is on the Sano Route. The two-story lodge building is maintained from funds raised during events like the annual Deer Hunters Breakfast that was held Saturday, November 10, 2018.
