Lindsey Wilson College 16th Annual Veteran's Appreciation Luncheon

The Lindsey Wilson College community will hold the 16th Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon beginning at at 11:30amCT on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, in Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY.

The luncheon is open to veterans and their spouses or a guest, along with veterans' widows and widowers. There is no charge to attend the luncheon, but guests are asked to RSVP by contacting the LWC Alumni Office at alumni@lindsey.edu or (270) 384-8400.

This year's keynote speaker will be retired Army officer, Sergeant Major Lee Graves, a decorated career veteran of the U.S. Army, who served in the military for 26 years. He currently lives in Columbia, KY, and assists in the newly added ROTC program at LWC.

This is the 16th consecutive year LWC has held the luncheon. Sponsored by the LWC National Alumni Association, it started in 2003 as part of the college's centennial celebrations.

The annual event is not held on Veterans Day so it does not conflict with community celebrations on that day.

"It's one of my favorite events on campus," said LWC Dean of Students Chris Schmidt, "The biggest thing for me as a administrator, community member, and son of a veteran is to see our students interacting and honoring these veterans. We ask student volunteers to serve the food provided by the staff at Cranmer Dining Center and cater to the veterans who come to the event so that they know how much we appreciate them. To take the time to honor, remember, and serve these veterans is such an important thing for us to do as an institution."
