2018 Adair Co. OCC shoeboxes in memory of Brandon Burns National collection week for Operation Christmas Child is November 12-19, 2018. The Drop off location for boxes in Adair County will be the Wheet Fellowship Hall at the Columbia Church of the Nazarene. By Mark Fudge The 2018 Operation Christmas Child shoe box effort in Adair County will be done in memory of Brandon Burns. Brandon was the bowling coach at Lindsey Wilson College and participated in and strongly supported the Operation Christmas Child program. Brandon was a friend to many and constantly looked for ways to love and help others. Operation Christmas Child was just one way that Brandon could do that. If a person visited Barney's Fun Center the first couple weeks of November, they would usually find Operation Christmas Child go boxes and numerous shoe box items at the center. Those items were evidence that Brandon had been shopping for his bowling team so that they could fill OCC boxes. Brandon would also try to schedule bowling competitions close to a OCC processing center so that he and his team could visit and volunteer during the holiday season. Lindsey Wilson College prepares hundreds of boxes for OCC every year and this year all of the Blue Raider shoeboxes will have bowling kits included in memory of Brandon. Director of Athletic Operation Beth Boisvert talked about Brandon's love for OCC. "Brandon loved helping others. He often talked about when he volunteered at the Operation Christmas Child processing center in Atlanta. He always wanted to take the Lindsey Wilson bowling team to volunteer there. That was just the kind of guy he was, always thinking of others. We wanted the Lindsey Wilson OCC boxes to represent Brandon and his love for the project so we added the small bowling sets to each box. Words cannot express how much he is missed," she said. Lindsey Wilson College Athletic Director Willis Pooler used similar words while describing Brandon's love for Operation Christmas Child. "Brandon was a loving, selfless individual who always cared for all people and especially his student-athletes. The OCC boxes we provide reflect his commitment to doing for others no matter the circumstances. I hope they will lift those in need, as Brandon did during the holiday season," said Pooler.
