The CHS Marching Band places seventh best Class A band in state By Calen McKinney Campbellsville High School marching band is the seventh best Class A band in Kentucky. CHS competed in the Kentucky Music Educators Association semifinals competition on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 in Lexington. The band advanced to the semifinals after placing third in regionals competition the previous Saturday. At semifinals, the CHS band finished in seventh place of the 16 bands competing. CHS defeated Metcalfe, Nicholas, McLean and Hancock counties, Paris, Russellville, Danville, Harlan and Mayfield. This year's show is entitled "The Rest is Still Unwritten." Musical selections include "Simple Gifts," a melody that has been around since the inception of the United States, "160 BPM" by Hans Zimmer from the movie "Angels and Demons," the hymn "Nearer My God to Thee" as the ballad and the pop song "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. The CHS band features 30 members. This season, CHS will compete in the Bands of America circuit, which includes bands from across the United States and other countries. The band will compete in the Mid-States Band Association Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday, Nov. 3. Zach Shelton is band director. Brittany Johnson is assistant.
