Donna Harper, 78, Adair County, KY (1940-2018)

She was a popular citizen of Columbia, involved in her Columbia Christian Church and a lifetime homemaker. Donna was a collector of history about the area. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. "Jimmy" Harper on October 28, 2011.

Donna Marcum Harper, 78, of Columbia, KY died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 4:18am at Baptist Health Lexington.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Stephens, Bro. Terry White and Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia Cemetery. Visitation is after 10amCT Saturday until the service.


She was born January 28, 1940, in Russell County, to the late John and Josephine Carnes Marcum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. "Jimmy" Harper on October 28, 2011. She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include:
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law - Lisa & Jay Johnson of Nicholasville, Jamie & Richard White of Louisville

  • Four grandchildren - Harper White, Casey Walker and husband Chris, Cara Workman and husband Patrick, Anna Johnson and fiance Sean Widmer

  • Four great-grandchildren - Colt, Eli & Grace Walker, Drew Workman

  • Two sisters - Bernita Blair of Russell Springs, Joyce Helm of Wilson, NC

  • A brother-in-law - Otis Hines of Jamestown

  • Several other relatives and friends
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Columbia Christian Church which can be left at the funeral home.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
