Blinkhorn wins Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate

By Chris Wells

Loudon, TN - Lindsey Wilson men's golf sophomore Callum Blinkhorn continued his strong play this fall, winning at the Bojangles Tennessee Intercollegiate today played at Tennessee National Golf Club.

Blinkhorn carded the low round of the day on Tuesday, to earn medalist honors by one stroke over Tennessee Wesleyan's Tanner Harris -- who entered the final round with a one-stroke lead.

Blinkhorn completed the three-round, two-day event with a tournament-total 208 (68-70-70) for his third win this season.

Lindsey Wilson shot a team-total 292 today to finish in a tie for fifth place -- with Mid-South Conference foe Cumberland (Tenn.) -- at 882 (281-302-299). No. 12 Dalton State (Ga.) won the team title with an 860 (283-282-295) while Tennessee Wesleyan finished runner-up with an 874 (295-287-292).

Blinkhorn birdied his 14th and 16th holes of the day to highlight the 2-under par 70. He carded three birdies on the day and nine for the tournament. Blinkhorn also tallied an eagle in his opening round 68 on Monday morning while surrendering just three bogeys over the 54 holes.

Blinkhorn has seven sub-par rounds this season in his four tournaments (10 rounds).

Just three shots separated Jeremiah Hayes, Etienne Rensburg, and Morgan Grace -- who was competing as an individual in the 63-man tournament.

Hayes posted a three-round total of 221 (68-76-77) to tie for 17th place. A tough start -- four-over after three holes -- plagued Hayes' top-10 chances. He was seven-over through 11 holes but rebounded nicely with three birdies over a four-hole stretch to post a 77 today.

Despite the rugged start, Hayes concluded the tournament with 11 birdies.

Rensburg also carded a 77 today to finish in a tie for 24th, posting a 224 (72-75-77) for the tournament. A triple bogey on the 16th hole spoiled a solid round for Rensburg. He finished the two days with a team-best 12 birdies.

Grace joined Rebsburg at 224 (78-72-74) to match his best finish of the season (24th) while setting a 54-hole personal best score.

Callum Burns finished tied for 38th with a 229 (73-81-75) while Cody Mingus ended in a tie for 59th with a 247 (87-81-79) to round out the Blue Raider team.

Lindsey Wilson completes its fall schedule on Oct. 22-23 at the Truett-McConnell Fall Preview at the Barnsley Garden Golf Resort in Adairsville, Georgia.
