Pleasant Hill is picturesque

E H Lepiarczyk writes:
The Pleasant Hill photograph is quite picturesque. Pleasant Hill Cemetery is the location of the grave of my half-great-aunt, Ursula C. Edrington Moore (1873-1908). Aunt Ursula's descendants live away from Kentucky. I hope to visit Aunt Ursula's grave during this upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Aunt Ursula's mother, Mary Margaret Bryant Grider (1846-1936), is my great-grandmother. May God bless all members of the Bryant family always. - E H Lepiarczyk

The Flags are out!

2013-05-23 - 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Gina Baker, Bank of Columbia photo. Gina Baker let us all know that the flags are out. It's shaping up as a big weekend in Adair County, with graduation events tonight and tomorrow, closely followed by the Memorial Day weekend end with street markets, the book fair, a huge estate sale downtown, yard sales and Memorial Day programs around the county and cooperating weather to make it a happy one. The flags will be flown through the weekend, then taken down to help preserve them - and put up again for the next big summer holiday, July 4th. - CM

Von Flatt Price: Happy memories with the Barnes family

Charles was always the first at the Flatts' food stand at the Adair County Fair. He'd always tell Otha he could smell the country ham all the way up to his house - half a mile away. Charles and Barbara Barnes were next door to the Otha & Fannie Flatt family on Guardian Street, and they were such great neighbors, Von Price remembers - CM

By Von Price
Adair County native now living in Louisville, KY

What a wonderful couple - Charles and Barbara Barnes. My parents, Otha & Fannie Flatt, used to live next door on Guardian Street and they were such great neighbors.

I will remember Charles Barnes as always having a big smile.
