A tribute to Charles Barnes, long time Chamber board member

Recently I have had the opportunity to work with Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. Later in the year, there will be three members whom terms will be expiring as Chamber Board of Directors. Earlier this week, I found myself sitting down with one of these Board Members, Charles Barnes whose term will expire December 31, 2009 after serving two terms on the Board.

Career Academy is a first ever in rural United States
Heather Spoon, Director of the Career Academny at Adair and Russell County High Schools, will the guest speaker at the Columbia-Adair County Chamber luncheon, Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the Lindsey Wilson College Roberta C. Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt DR, Columbia, KY. The talk will focus on the first ever career academy in a rural area in the United States. Chamber already has nine community yard sale locations
City wide yard sales for Labor Day expanded to County-wide; Adair Magistrates have secured nine locations already for big Labor Day weekend affair

Nine locations for set-ups have not been registered with the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce for the County-wide Yard the Chamber is sponsoring Friday, September 4, Saturday, September 5, and Monday, Labor Day September 7, 2009.
So far, at least one location is available in every district except District No. 5. To have your yard listed for mention in the media, contact the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce, 201 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, phone (270) 384-6020. CJE Ann Melton had requested the maigistrates secure the locations at the August 11, 2009 meeting of Fiscal Court. So far, the response has been outstanding.
