The students at Adair County Middle School need your help!!!! Our school has enrolled in the Box Tops for Education Program. When you purchase items from the grocery store or Wal-Mart, check them for Box Tops for Education labels and send them to ACMS. Each box top is worth 10 cents for our school, and drawings will be held for students who bring in box tops each 9 weeks. Just remember to look for them, clip and save them for us. It's easy and won't cost you any money, since the Box Tops are placed on items we use every day. We are also asking businesses and individuals to donate anything from good used electronics, such as computers and calculators to t-shirts and school supplies to give away during the drawings. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that took part in the democratic process on Tuesday and exercised their right to vote. While our country and state face many hardships, let there be no doubt that the democratic principles on which our nation was founded are as solid as ever.

I want to express my heart felt thanks to all of the citizens who voted for me in the 51st district State Representatives Race. There are nearly 42,000 citizens in Adair and Taylor Counties and I will do all I can to serve each of you.

Rotary Club Goal is to "Walk Around the World" in one year

In July, 2008, the Columbia Rotary Club and friends walked a total of 307 miles which took them to Memphis, Tennessee by the road map. As the crow flies, the club's walk also equalled the distance to Lifton, GA, just below Atlanta. Soon, there will be cards and deposit places in each of the banks in Columbia and in the Adair County Public Library for everyone to help Columbia Rotary "Walk around the World." Get out and walk. We have already had accounts of individuals who have not exercised beginning to walk. Here are two good measured courses:

• 1 mile=5 times around the Columbia Square on sidewalk
• 1 mile=2 times around the Adair County Fairgrounds Park
• 1 mile=2 times around the track at Christian Life Center
• 1 mile=4 times around the track behind the John Adair Intermediate School
• 1 mile= 20 minutes of vigorous exercise, including bicycling

A guest in my home over the weekend found a nifty little digital camcorder in the grass while taking a shortcut to visit a friend.
