LWC Softball wins over Kentucky Christian and Georgetown By Clayton Barefield Bowling Green, KY - Lindsey Wilson softball secured their place in the Mid-South Conference winner's bracket after opening day one of the tournament with a pair of wins over No. 8 seed Kentucky Christian and No. 4 seed Georgetown (Ky.) from Michael O. Buchanon Park. For the day, the Blue Raiders (44-2) outhit their opponents 19-16. Lindsey Wilson opened the tournament with a 9-3 victory over Kentucky Christian before defeating Georgetown in a close 2-1 victory. Thank You Coach Oliver and LWC Football Team Members Coach Chris Oliver and his Lindsey Wilson College football team got a huge 'Thank You' from residents along Town Creek in Columbia for their date of service Wednesday, May 1, 2019. For two weeks they took requests and then selected the projects around town they felt they could accomplish by dividing the team into smaller teams and getting down to work. They collected bags and bags of plastic and other trash in just a few blocks of one of the projects, Town Creek, starting at the corner of Montgomery and Hurt streets and going to Jamestown Street. Fly Fishing Weekends at Kentucky State Parks By Gil Lawson Frankfort, KY - - Kentucky State Parks are offering a series of Fly Fishing Weekends at six parks starting in May and running through November of this year. The first one is scheduled for May 18-19, at Barren River Lake State Resort Park, and another will be at Lake Cumberland later in the summer. The weekends include one day of classroom work and a second day of fishing on a stream. Bill Carman, a hunting and fishing guide with more than 50 years of experience, will serve as the instructor. Participants will learn how to choose equipment, select a fly, read a stream, and how to hook and land a fish. Flies and loaner rods and reels will be provided.
