Cheyann Walters to sing in ACHS Spring Concert 16 May 2019

You can hear Cheyann Walters sing in the Spring Concert is at Columbia United Methodist Church, 7pmCT on May 16, 2019.

She is in the 9th Grade at ACHS and sings Soprano 2. She writes, "I have been singing since I was 5."

She is the daughter of Daniel and Terri Sears of Columbia and hopes to see everyone at the Concert on May 16th.

LWC Softball wins over Kentucky Christian and Georgetown

Bowling Green, KY - Lindsey Wilson softball secured their place in the Mid-South Conference winner's bracket after opening day one of the tournament with a pair of wins over No. 8 seed Kentucky Christian and No. 4 seed Georgetown (Ky.) from Michael O. Buchanon Park.

For the day, the Blue Raiders (44-2) outhit their opponents 19-16. Lindsey Wilson opened the tournament with a 9-3 victory over Kentucky Christian before defeating Georgetown in a close 2-1 victory.

Lindsey Wilson advances to the winner's bracket final on Sunday against the winner of No. 2 seed Campbellsville and No. 7 seed Shawnee State (Ohio) at NoonCT at Buchanon Park, Nashville Rd., Bowling Green, KY.

4-H Camp Orientation Meetings

4-H camp orientation meetings will be held on Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7, 2019, starting at 5:30pmCT.

Meetings will be held at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Office located at 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. It is important to attend one of these meetings because we will be signing up for camp classes.

Letter: writer has older chairs to give away

I am interested in knowing if there is a club or organization, a church out in the Columbiamagazine.com area, that could use some old chairs that stack on top of each other for storage.

ACMS to hold Parent Elections for 2019-2010 Friday, 10 May

The Parent Elections for the 2019-20 SBDM Council for Adair County Middle School will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 7am-3pmCT at the school.

Thank You Coach Oliver and LWC Football Team Members

Coach Chris Oliver and his Lindsey Wilson College football team got a huge 'Thank You' from residents along Town Creek in Columbia for their date of service Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

For two weeks they took requests and then selected the projects around town they felt they could accomplish by dividing the team into smaller teams and getting down to work.

They collected bags and bags of plastic and other trash in just a few blocks of one of the projects, Town Creek, starting at the corner of Montgomery and Hurt streets and going to Jamestown Street.

Bertha Roark, 90, formerly of Columbia, KY (1929-2019)

Bertha was a caregiver for many years and a member of the Columbia Christian Church.

Bertha Roark, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away May 1, 2019 in Greenwood, Indiana where she had made her home for the past several years. She was 90 years old

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. David Asberry officiating. Burial will follow in the Cold Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 9amCT until time for the service at the funeral home.

LWC Women's Golf earns at-large bid into NAIA National Championship field

The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team received an at-large bid into the 2019 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, officials announced on Thursday with the release of the championship tournament field.

The 156-player field consists of 19 automatic qualifying teams, which won their respective conference, independent or unaffiliated group tournament, 11 at-large berths, six individual qualifiers.

Fly Fishing Weekends at Kentucky State Parks

Frankfort, KY - - Kentucky State Parks are offering a series of Fly Fishing Weekends at six parks starting in May and running through November of this year. The first one is scheduled for May 18-19, at Barren River Lake State Resort Park, and another will be at Lake Cumberland later in the summer.

The weekends include one day of classroom work and a second day of fishing on a stream. Bill Carman, a hunting and fishing guide with more than 50 years of experience, will serve as the instructor.

Participants will learn how to choose equipment, select a fly, read a stream, and how to hook and land a fish. Flies and loaner rods and reels will be provided.

Showers are likely on Saturday night, and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 55F. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming west after midnight.

Sunday will start with the chance of early morning showers, then gradually become mostly sunny, with a high near 70F and northwest wind around 7 mph.
