Jack Fishback update from serious accident injuries

Jack Fishback is a talented 16-year-old who enjoys fishing, genealogy, record collecting, vintage treasure hunting, and going to the flea market.

Son of Dan and Lacey Fishback, Jack is renowned for his piano playing. Beginning at the age of 10, Jack was self-taught and played by ear. His favorite tunes to play are the boogie woogie and blues.

Jack had taken his talent to many places and even auditioned for America's Got Talent and played at the Galt House in Louisville.

On the evening of April 26th, 2024, Jack was driving when he overcorrected a turn, flipped his vehicle, and was found by a community member after the accident on Highway 80.

His brain began swelling and there was bleeding because of the swelling. His spine, ribs, and skull were fractured.

Jack was rushed to the University of Kentucky hospital where he is now recovering from his accident.

His family is asking for donations to pay for Jack's hospital bills and medical expenses.

Jack's mother, Lacy Fishback, has opened a Vemo (LaceyFishback@jackfishback) and GoFundMe (Support Jack's Recovery and Lacey's Strength) page for donations. There are also donation cans around Columbia in stores to show support for Jack.

"We are just so grateful," said Judy Jones, Jack's grandmother. "The support from the community has been overwhelming and we will be forever grateful for that."

Jack's family would like to thank the community and urge them to support Jack in his recovery journey.

"The Jack Fishback family thanks the emergency crew, 1st responders, sheriff, and everyone who aided Jack at the scene of the wreck. We want to also thank our community as well as surrounding counties for all the love, support, and prayers that continually keep coming."

Jack's teachers and classmates have also sent well wishes to him and his family.

"Jack Fishback is a pillar in our school and community. He is the epitome of kindness and resilience. His smile lights up every room and his talents inspire us all to believe in our own ability to be successful. He has elevated FBLA at Adair and his ability to demonstrate business understanding is second to none. We are all incredibly grateful that Jack is on a positive road to recovery. His classmates along with his teacher have cried together, prayed together, and hoped together. We are confident that Jack will defy the odds and continue to improve. We pray that he is able to return home to Columbia with his loving family soon. We are rooting for you, Jack! You are loved, my friend."

There will be a benefit at Anderson's on May 18th. His band will also be performing a concert in his honor at a later date.
