Comment: private citizens owed an apology By Vicky Pike Besides the occupational tax, there were a couple of other issues that need to be highlighted from the fiscal court meeting. One being the use of social media to discuss a private citizen's tax matters by a public official. Whether or not you are the judge's daughter or son, if you pay taxes in Adair County you should be treated equally. You pay taxes. You are entitled to services and respect. I think it is highly inappropriate for a Magistrate to mention private citizens on social media and think he can get by with it. Heather and Kevin Spoon called Mr. Flatt out for this and should have. Heather takes care of their special needs child instead of earning a paycheck with W-2. Her brother Easton lives on a road that his special needs child's bus and health care providers have trouble traveling. This is unacceptable. Easton has a business and employs 13 people. He pay taxes too. It shouldn't matter that they are the Adair County Judge Executive's children. Both have special needs children. Both do so much for our community. They deserve better. I just wanted to be sure those that haven't watched or attended knew their situation. It's always good to have things out in the open for all to know. Mr. Flatt, you owe the Spoons a public apology.
