Letter: Economic Development Luncheon

By Victoria Pike

I am so excited to hear all the good news we were given about the opportunities Adair County has on its doorstep at the EDA sponsored luncheon to help inform local city and county officials what is possible for Adair County if we get in gear and move FORWARD.

It's shocking to hear 4,080 people leave our county to work everyday. I urge all involved to come together and move our city and county forward. I will continue to write articles in support of our county moving forward.

I will not be bullied into being silent. I'm not stirring the pot when I write in favor of positive actions in our community. As we were told yesterday, people come in to our community and see our actions. Lately, that has not been pretty.

So, from this day forward, let's put our best foot forward and take some of the suggestions given to us yesterday and try to put them into practice. I call upon all our community to stop the UGLY, because we may have a billion dollar company looking at us at that ugly moment and cost our community yet another opportunity to grow. So before any of you drop another negative comment, remember this may cost our community.

I will continue to try my best to support ALL our leaders. It's a hard job. Some of you should just give it a try sometime before you speak. I have done the best I can to help in any way I can the last 3-4 administrations by serving in various capacities when asked and will continue to do so because once in office they are OUR elected officials and they need all the support they can get. So please let's work together like was suggested yesterday and move forward with making Adair County a place where our future generations can live and yes work.
